I prefer to look at it as an uplifting scene of Peep empowerment, rather than one of sugary exploitation.
maybe it’s like this in every large metropolitan area, but i kind of doubt it.
i feel like detroit has been dismissed (just as the lovely mascarah would describe it as “a shit hole..”) and the interesting and amazing people that are here are left to wander the streets being completely unrecognized and not compensated for their talents.
but that also might just be what makes detroit so special.
fuck the haters.
it would.
it’s moving day, and what do you know- IT’S FUCKING RAINING.
pouring. puddles. humid.
gross.
not to get all “cat lady,” but i’ve been missing my little bastard of a cat a lot lately.
sara and i are in the process of moving to a new apartment, in a new town, and everytime i move something, i find things that he hid.
yesterday it was beer bottle caps and wine corks under the couch. today it was his favorite stuffed mouse behind the cabinet thingy the tv sits on and junk collects in.
curtis asked me this evening if it was “new kitty time” yet. i said no, but i’m beginning to wonder if it ever will be.
What is a community organizer? | The Michigan Daily
This is a fantastic article—and perhaps an even better comic. That one community organizer is not going to put out burning Detroit—but it might slow the fire enough for that gigantic politician to pay attention, set down the baby, and do something useful.
